Just beautiful!
I don't think I've seen so many wedding invitations from the same era. Lucky you!
ReplyDeleteSimply stunning, and so pleased that your family has kept them.
ReplyDeleteWhat a collection! I enjoyed reading them and seeing the slight differences to today's invitations. I wonder if the churches mentioned are still around.
ReplyDeleteThanks you so much for sharing them.
BTW I think I have saved the invitations from most of the weddings I have attended. I hope my kids don't toss them away.
ReplyDeleteI've only been to 1 wedding and still have the invitation. I need to see if my parents still have any of theirs.
DeleteCaitlin,
ReplyDeleteI want to let you know that your blog post is listed in today's Fab Finds post at http://janasgenealogyandfamilyhistory.blogspot.com/2014/10/follow-friday-fab-finds-for-october-10.html
Have a wonderful weekend!
Another idea is to also photograph them and place in the Wedding Albums.
ReplyDeleteI've also got invitations to weddings which I attended but certainly nothing that old.
ReplyDeleteGreat post..!!!!
ReplyDeleteI like this Post. It is so nice to read such wonderful blog. Thanks for sharing!

STUNNING,in every way.Very impressive post.
ReplyDelete12 months on - did you ever research the other families? They were probably friends of your great grandparents if not acquaintances. I ma sure anyone would be over the moon to know someone has a an original invitation to a ancestor's wedding. Another great source for wedding of the past is newspapers - the descriptions of the wedding dress, other outfits and who gave what are sometimes amazing not to mention the opportunity to pick up other family members. Beautiful collection Caitie. Lyn
ReplyDeleteThey are wonderful to have... I'm sure there will be many in Dad's appears when we get a chance to go through them all. I save all mine as well, along with cards and other invites... they are a rich source of history. Lyn's idea of checking newspapers for more details can only add to their value for research. I have gleaned so much more about our families from wedding announcements, etc.
ReplyDeleteI'm so pleased that you have inherited these Caitlin as I know you will treasure them.
